- Giulio and Miriam Caporali run the estate (site: 'Miriam and Giulio Caporali sow each autumn…'); consulting oenologist Eric Boissenot since 2010 (earlier Prof. Yves Glories). Head winemaker not formally named.
Valdipiatta is widely regarded as one of the finest producers of Nobile in the Montepulciano zone. Their Nobile and indeed the winery is consistently rated highly by wine critics worldwide.
The 2016 Alfiero is a brilliant ruby-red colour with high intensity and clarity. It has aromas of wild blackberry and spice on the nose, followed by subtle hints of citrus and violets. Full-flavored, fleshy and powerful on the palate, this wine shows tremendous structure and complexity. Balanced and long.

Tenuta Valdipiatta farms 22 hectares of vineyard in the heart of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano zone, certified organic since 2018 and managed as a closed ecosystem with cover crops and home-made compost. Its traditional wines are Sangiovese-led, with the single-vineyard Vigna d'Alfiero (planted almost half a century ago by the estate's first cellarman, Alfiero Carpini) made from pure Sangiovese. Since the 1990s the estate has worked with Bordeaux consultants, most recently Eric Boissenot.
